Hartfield Academy Soccer: A Crest to Call Their Own

I love designing for soccer-centered clients.

My high school teammate is now the head coach at high school in our hometown, and is doing a phenomenal job. When he reached out with a chance to be involved in what he was doing, it was an emphatic YES.

Currently, Hartfield Academy uses their scholastic mark or sports eagle mark for all their athletic programs. Generally, soccer programs have a badge or crest they can call their own. This is what Jake asked me to create for his girls and boys programs. Here’s how the final crest turned out.

I wanted Hartfield’s primary colors of crimson and gold and secondary colors of black and white to compliment each other well. The Hartfield “H” is normally seen thinner, with no outline. But a crest is meant to be a bold statement, so I focused on thick lines and gave some padding around the Eagle feather that centers the “H”.

Instead of writing “soccer” in the crest, I opted for a soccer ball with thick lines to partner with “HARTFIELD” and the “H”. The crest will read as Hartfield Soccer without the word “soccer” in the crest.

The crest will be used on various colors, so I also designed versions specifically for colors. You can see the difference in the Primary crest on the left, and how the crest will look if used on a black background on the right. Below is how the crest looks on a gold background (it might be my favorite).

I was also pleased how the crest came out as a one-color option in case they’ll need it in that capacity.

I can’t wait to see Jake’s squads rocking their new crest. I’ll be snagging some gear, hopefully.
