WHAT WE DID

Forty Four was a new restaurant in planning within downtown Memphis. Chef Shawn Davis plans to bring premier the African American-owned fine dining establishments to the city. Brasserie restaurants are known for being informal, fine dining, so we wanted the brand aesthetics to immediately have a welcoming elegance.

THE STORY BEHIND THE BRAND

44's name refers to the chef's grandmother's home on 44 Smith Street where his love for cooking blossomed. The number 8 means "new beginnings", (4+4=8) so we designed a hidden #8 within the O's of the brand mark, as this is a new beginning for the chef's culinary journey and for the potential home of 44, The Commonwealth.

WEBSITE DESIGN

We created a website that enables easy menu browsing for users on desktop and mobile. Rather than simply uploading a PDF, visitors will be able to easily navigate menu sections from their phone and get a feel for 44’s aesthetic before stepping foot in the door.
